How do I schedule PC Doc Pro to run at a certain time?

Select Advanced Options from the top menu, then select Options. You can either select PC Doc Pro to load each time Windows start. In addition, you can enable a scheduler by selecting ‘Enable Scheduler’ and then select the interval from 30 minutes to a week.

As a minimum, we recommend that you scan your PC every two weeks

Select, the registry entry that you would like to restore, then select the ‘Restore’ button, and PC Doc Pro will restore the entries. Please reboot your machine for the change to take effect.

How do I use StartUp Optimizer?

StartUp Optimizer is an advanced feature in PC Doc Pro that will speed up your Windows startup and eliminate those annoying programs that clog up your PC from starting. I get a runtime error message on startup?

The error that you have encountered is caused by some VB runtime and MS scripting files not being properly installed or uninstalled from the system.

Errors may include:

Class factory cannot supply the requested class. Error Source SetAll Text Function

Run-time error '429' ActiveX component can't create object

To resolve the issue reinstall PC Doc Pro using the instructions below.

Please make sure PC Doc Pro is closed (if applicable)

Please uninstall the current version by navigating to the Start button -> Programs -> PC Doc Pro folder and executing the Uninstall PC Doc Pro shortcut. (after the uninstall is completed, please navigate to the \Program Files folder to verify that the PC Doc Pro folder has been removed. If it hasn't, please delete it.)

Download PC Doc Pro from here.

Install the PC Doc Pro package that was downloaded in step #3 above.

The program is registered but after scanning and repairing consecutively, the same number of detected problems appear.

Please make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest version of PC Doc Pro from here.

If the problem persists, the problem may be caused by reoccurring invalid entires. Invalid entries can be created by programs (and even Windows) through their normal operation. For example, when a program is started, it puts entries into the registry and creates files which the registry entries point to. When the program is shut down, it may remove the files but leave the registry entries in the Registry, thus creating an invalid entry.

Please run a test to determine if PC Doc Pro is working correctly.

Start PC Doc Pro

Run a full scan and repair

Immediately after, run a second scan

* Are there any errors detected?

If not then PC Doc Pro is correctly detecting and repairing the problems.

If so, please send your logs:

Navigate to the \Program Files\PC Doc Pro\Backup folder and email all files in the \Backup folder to backup @ pcdocpro.com. (You may want to compress them using zip or rar as they can be rather large.)

When starting PC Doc Pro I get the error "This program has been damaged..."

Please follow the steps below to reinstall PC Doc Pro.

Install the PC Doc Pro package that was downloaded in step #3 above

Active X Error - When I go to download PC Doc Pro my computer tells me that my current security settings don't allow ActiveX and the page will not be displayed - what do I do?

This error is fairly simple to get rid of - it just means that for some reason the settings in your browser (Internet Explorer) have been altered to block out the download process. (This is quite common under Windows XP Service Pack 2)

To change this simple setting and allow the download follow these steps:

i.) Go to "Tools" in the main menu of your browser - select "Internet Options" from the menu.

ii.) Make sure you click on the "Security" tab at the top of the next screen and then at the bottom of the "Security" screen you will see a button that says "Custom Level" - click on it.

iii.) In the list that appears you should see an option that reads "Download signed ActiveX controls" - this should be set to "Enabled" in order to receive the download.

Without this setting "Enabled" you will not be able to access most downloads including PC Doc Pro

In Service Pack 2 – you may need to select – Allow Access or Download, in a bar underneath the address window

Applet Error  - I get an "applet can't load" error message when I attempt to download PC Doc Pro - how can I get the software?

Any type of "Applet" error is very rare when attempting to download PC Doc Pro and most likely will only affect a small minority of Netscape users. In any case, we do have an alternate download site available at the following URL:

http://www.pcdocpro.com/download2.html

Please follow the directions carefully on this website to download the "pcdocpro3.exe" file needed for PC Doc Pro. There shouldn't be any problems with downloading from this site.

Win 2000, XP and Vista Profiles

I have a number of different profiles (logins for different users) set up in Windows Vista (2000 or XP). When I scan on my profile PC Doc Pro works fine, but when someone else tries to use PC Doc Pro through their profile it doesn't work - what should I do?

Both Windows Vista and Windows XP use a system of "profiles" - or simply put, a separate login for different users giving them a customized desktop and file access.

In both Win Vista and XP you are able to grant any user what is deemed "Administrator" access. Each user who wants to run PC Doc Pro under their "profile" MUST have administrator access on the computer or PC Doc Pro will find errors but not fix them. This is because without "Administrator" access a person is restricted from accessing certain areas of the computer that PC Doc Pro must use to work effectively - thus "Administrator" access is a must.

In Windows XP the "Administrator" access can be controlled easily by going into the Control Panel and selecting the "User Accounts" option to view all of the current users.

When I run a scan in Windows Vista, why do the number of errors repeat themselves again or why I am asked to confirm each repair?

Please go to your PC's Control Panel. Click on User Accounts (classic view if you have this selected)

Then please 'Turn User Account Control on or off'

(You may need to press Continue)

Please then uncheck the following option

'Use Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer'

You may then need to reboot your computer to allow these changes. After the program has fixed your registry, you may re-check this option from the control panel

Should I continue using Scan Disk and Defragmenter?

We do recommend continuing to use ScanDisk and Disk Defragmenter periodically. Both of these in conjunction with PC Doc Pro will help to optimize your PC's performance.

A simple test is to run ScanDisk and then run PC Doc Pro. Most likely PC Doc Pro will locate errors that ScanDisk does not and vice versa. All three scan different areas of your computer and complement one another.

I cannot run in MS DOS Mode?

This error message is the result of a faulty initial download - the computer isn't recognizing the software as a valid Windows application so it's trying to open it using DOS.

The solution is to uninstall the software by going to START>>Programs>>PC Doc Pro>>Uninstall. After uninstalling please revisit the download site and re-download the software onto your PC. The download site can be accessed by going to:

http://www.pcdocpro.com/download2.html

After I downloaded PC Doc Pro I was prompted to reboot my computer

Yes. You can safely reboot your computer if it prompted you to and PC Doc Pro will load with Windows when it starts back up. Unfortunately, we have little control on how the Windows Installer handles software on your computer so in some rare cases you may be prompted to "reboot" your PC so Windows fully recognizes the new software that has been installed.

Once your computer reboots, simply double-click on the PC Doc Pro icon on your desktop to get the "Master Control" window back up on your screen. You can then just click on the button to scan your computer for errors.

Discovered a bug in software

Please let us know! Your feedback is very important to us and we have set up a "bug" report page where you can detail the bug that you've found in the software and submit it to our programming team for further analysis.

Just as a clarification, a "bug" is not the same as not knowing how to do something with the software. A software "bug" is when you expect a certain function within the software and it either doesn't work as expected or something else happens in its place that is unexpected.

If your question is not answered please Contact Our Helpdesk and we will be happy to answer your query.  .
