How to manually add HP Share-to-Web or
NVIDIA shell extensions to the registry
If you
discovered that you couldn’t automatically
install the new version of Verclsid.exe you
will have to manually add the names to that
allow list. If you fallow the steps listed
below you will have no problem in finishing
the job with little sweet. But before you
start make sure you save a backup copy of
your registry before making any modification
to it.
Also be sure you
know how to restore it to its original
settings. If you modify incorrectly the
registry by using Registry Editor or any
other method you can cause serious programs
that might require that you reinstall your
system. Also it is essential to know that
Microsoft usually does not guaranty that
those problems will be solved in each
situation. There are instances when these
problems are unsolvable so you will modify
the registry t your own risk. All in all
fallowing our steps will bring you as close
as possible to a successful change.
To manually
install the HP shell extension to the allow
list you must:
*Make sure you
are logged to the computer with an account
that has administrative modification rights.
*On the start
menu select the run option and type regedit
and then click ok.
*next you must
locate the fallowing subkeys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell
Extensions\Cached.
*On New select
the DWORD Value
*Depending on
the windows variant you have you must type:
For Windows
2000- A4DF5659-0801-4A60-9607-1C48695EFDA9 —
000214E6-0000-0000-C000-000000000046
For XP 2003-
A4DF5659-0801-4A60-9607-1C48695EFDA9 —
000214E6-0000-0000-C000-000000000046 — 0x401
*After you have
created these values, click them and set the
value data at 1.
*Exit the
registry and restart the computer.
If you manually
want to add NVIDIA extensions just:
*Make sure you
are logged to the computer with an account
that has administrative modification rights
*On the start
menu select the run option and type regedit
and then click ok.
*Now locate the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell
Extensions\Cached key
*On New select
