How to increase download speeds in Firefox by 40 percent
Written on by Kay
By default Firefox is configured for dial-up when it comes to downloads of web pages
By changing
a few settings in Firefox, you can increase download speeds with the increased bandwidth that is made available to the program.
1) The first thing to do to get started is type ”about:config’ in the address bar of Firefox and press return on your keyboard
2) In the “Filter:” bar, type “persistent”
3) You should now see two preference names with their values:
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy user set integer 4
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server user set integer 2
4) Double click on each of the preference names.
In the window that pops-up, change the value to 20 to 30 if you have a broadband connection
Then press OK and the download speeds will dramatically increase of any page surfed in Firefox

Hi Kay,

What do you mean 20 to 30?
I changed both the proxy and server first to 30 as I have an 8Mbs download rate. This made things much slower and did’nt show all the graphics.
Then I changed both to 20 and it was faster but still didn’t show all the graphics.
So I’m now back to 4 and 2 and it seems plenty fast enough with all the graphics.
Thanks,
Jeff
